TheWrap reports that Tim Burton is officially in talks to helm the Beetlejuice sequel, 25 long years after the original film was released. The even more exciting news is that Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, might be returning as well.

Details below:

"

Tim Burton’s involvement in “Beetlejuice 2″ is no longer a rumor, as he’s officially in talks to direct the sequel for Warner Bros., multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role as the titular fast-talking, black-and-white stripe-wearing ghost with the most.

Seeing as how Keaton is now quite old to be Beetlejuice, maybe Burton will turn to pal Johnny Depp to depict the character. And I bet he wouldn't say "no" to that opportunity.
