Josh Brolin Reveals His Dark Past: "I Tried Heroin"

If you recall, Josh Brolin spent New Year's Eve in a jail cell. Ironically, his first movie this year, Oldboy, told the story of a man imprisoned for 15 years in a hotel room. Kinda funny!



Anyway, let's get back to Brolin's arrest. The actor was detained for a bar fight that occurred earlier that night and public intoxication. What you probably didn't know is that the Sin City: A Dame to Kill for star had a much darker past.



Here are some of the untold stories he revealed to The Guardian recently:

"

On being part of a surf gang: I"It was Santa Barbara. It was the 80s. It was punk rock," he told The Guardian. "You either had the children of rich, neglectful parents or children of poor, neglectful parents, so it was a mix. But we basically grew up the same way. I've never seen a group like that before or since."

On using heroin: "I tried heroin," Brolin said, admitting that he and his friends would rob cars to buy drugs. "That sounds so horrible when you put it like that. But yeah, I tried heroin. I mean, I never got into it and I never died from it, which is a good thing. I've had 19 friends who died. Most of those guys I grew up with, they're all dead now."
